Well Bore Positioning (Angus Jamieson)

Mr Angus Jamieson, managing director of Tech 21 in Inverness Scotland will talk on the issues surrounding wellbore positioning. This will include a description of the techniques and tools used to establish position and depth and the common pitfalls affecting wellbore position accuracy.
Angus is the current chairman of the ISCWSA, the SPE Technical Section for Wellbore Positioning and was the original author of the widely used COMPASS directional software now marketed by Landmark. He is the main external directional drilling advisor and trainer for Shell International and has a long experience in both navigation and surveying.

Congrès International SPWLA à Veracruz (Ph. Theys)

Le 47 ème symposium international de la SPWLA vient de se dérouler à Vera Cruz au Mexique.
Une participation de 900 personnes confirme l’intérêt et le succès d’une telle réunion. Le directeur de l’Exploration & Production de Pemex et le Gouverneur de la région de Vera Cruz ont inauguré cet évènement.

Avant cela, trois séminaires ont réuni une centaine de personnes.

Pendant les trois jours de réunions techniques, une quarantaine de présentations orales ont eu lieu, complétées par une vingtaine de "posters."
En parallele, trois SIGs (Groupes d’Interet Techniques) se sont également réunis.

La présentation incluera également un résume des sujets techniques qui ont semblent susciter le plus d’intérêt.

The 47th international SPWLA synposium was held in Vera Crux from June 5th to 8th, with an attendance of 900 participants. The event was inaugurated by the E&P President of Pemex and the "Gubernator" of the Vera Cruz region. The day before, three workshops gathered approximately 100 participants.

The presentation includes the summary of the papers that presented the most interest to the audience.
